Hendrick Marrow Program
Rick Hendrick, chairman and CEO of Hendrick Motorsports, established the Hendrick Marrow Program in 1997 after he was diagnosed with leukemia. Even though he did not need a marrow transplant himself, he wanted to help other patients waiting to find a marrow match and a second chance at life.
The Hendrick Marrow Program works with Be The Match Foundation to support the work of the National Marrow Donor Program. It raises money to add more potential marrow donors to the Be The Match Registry, increasing the chances that more patients find their match. It also helps patients pay for some uninsured transplant costs, which are often a barrier to treatment.
You can help by donating at anytime, or by participating in upcoming events. Be The Match Walk+Run in Charlotte, NC on September 28, 2013.

Gethsemane Garden Christian Centre
Our community extends further than Charlotte, NC, all the way to the Gethsemane Garden Christian Centre (GGCC) on Mfangano Island in Lake
Victoria in Kenya. Recently we donated for the 2013 Walk-A-Thon for Gethsemane Garden Christian Centre on April 20, 2013.
At GGCC, over five hundred students are currently enrolled at the Christian-based school, where they consistently exceed the national average for end-of-year test scores. The students are among the poorest from Mfangano and the surrounding islands. Up to 65% of the people depend on government assistance for daily sustenance, and 60% of pregnant women are infected with HIV. The number of orphans increases each year as parents die from this disease.
Hendrick Honda shares the Gethsemane Garden Christian Centre's vision to give hope to, and empower, children who are victims of poverty and HIV/AIDS by providing them with a quality, Christian-based education.

Every year Hendrick Honda donates a Honda for a raffle to help contribute to the Nazareth Children's Home.
Presently,
Nazareth serves as a private childcare agency that provides specialized services
to both children and their families. Their mission is two fold… first to bring love, stability and guidance to the
children who come to them for help, and secondly to reunite these children with
their families whenever possible. They offer a complete continuum of care for the children, providing for every need. At Nazareth, young lives are being changed each day, for the better, and
frowns are being turned upside down.

Fort Mill School District Athletics
Hendrick Honda partners with National Amateur Sports to help sponsor Fort Mill School District Athletics. National Amateur Sports (NAS) was created by a team passionate about youth athletics who based their vision on four observations:
- Kids need sports. Student athletes are four times more likely to attend college than non-athletes.
- Schools need funding. In just the past two years, more than $3.5 billion has been cut from sports programs in public schools.
- Operations and marketing solutions are lacking. Middle and high school sports programs as well as amateur sports leagues are under-served relative to today’s available technology.
- Businesses want to become involved. Corporations are good citizens with a strong desire to support local communities in grassroots campaigns.
At Hendrick Honda, we shared the same vision when looking to outreach to the community! We now stay involved with the Fort Mill School District by highlighting two athletes (male and female) each season from each school, and not only recognize them for their outstanding athleticism, but for their scholastic achievements as well.
