CRV HONORED AS MOTOR TREND 2018 SUV OF
THE YEAR:
Motor Trend has
named the ever-popular Honda CR-V as its 2018
SUV of the Year. The 2018 CR-V, which is the second model year of the
completely reimagined fifth-generation of Honda's compact SUV, beat out 25
contenders in an exhaustive evaluation by 11 of Motor Trend's top editors, writers and testers.
The refreshed fourth-generation Honda CR-V previously took home Motor Trend
2015 SUV of the Year honors.
"The
Honda CR-V has earned its place as America's most popular SUV over the past two
decades by providing customers with just the right balance of features,
capabilities, fun-to-drive performance and outstanding quality." said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president of
Automobile Sales & general manager of the Honda Division at American
Honda. "We are incredibly honored to earn this recognition from the
experts at Motor Trend
in a very competitive and crowded field."
Calling
it "the swankiest interior ever seen on the CR-V", Motor Trend chose the CR-V
because Honda paid attention to a wide range of details including advancement
in design, safety performance features, engineering excellence, efficiency and
value. To be eligible for the Motor Trend SUV of the Year award, a vehicle must
be "all-new" or "substantially upgraded" and have been on
sale within 12 months from the previous November.
The 2018
Honda CR-V is manufactured at three Honda plants in North America: East
Liberty, Ohio; Greensburg, Indiana; and Alliston, Ontario. Its 1.5-liter
turbocharged engine and automatic transmission are manufactured in Ohio by
the Anna Engine Plant and Honda Transmission Mfg., in Russells Point,
respectively1. Honda has sold more than 4.2 million CR-Vs in America
since its U.S. introduction in 1997, making it the top-selling SUV in America
over the course of 20 years. The new CR-V has collected numerous other
accolades including a Kelley
Blue Book "Best Overall Buy" in the Small SUV/Crossover
category, U.S. News &
World Report's "2017
Best New Car for Teens" and Autotrader's
"Must Test Drive" Award, as well as a top-in-segment score in J.D.
Power and Associates' 2017 U.S. APEAL Study.
